Florida football is set to reintroduce a familiar face to its coaching staff, signaling a move that could add experience and versatility to Billy Napier’s program ahead of a pivotal 2025 season.
William Peagler, who previously served as the Gators’ tight ends coach in 2022, is expected to rejoin the staff in a yet-to-be-confirmed role, according to a report by 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Monday.
Though his official position has not been announced, Peagler has been a visible presence at Florida’s spring practices throughout March, indicating the move has been in motion behind the scenes.
The Gators already have Russ Callaway as co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach, with support from senior offensive analyst John Donovan. If Peagler does not return to a tight ends role, he could take on an analyst or off-field position.
Peagler brings a wide-ranging coaching background, including most recently a stint in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals, where he assisted with the defensive line. Prior to that, he made his mark coaching tight ends with the Gators and running backs at Michigan State.
The Gators are focused on internal development and staff continuity—two areas Peagler is well-positioned to impact. While the exact nature of his role is still unclear, his experience across offensive positions, recruiting background and familiarity with Napier’s system make him a versatile asset.
