Penn State spent its time recruiting David Davis from Pittsburgh, and the effort has finally paid off with a commitment.
Penn State is keeping one of the top players in Pennsylvania high school close to home. In its latest ongoing effort to domainte the state in recruiting, Penn State has secured a commitment from David Davis, a four-star athlete from Pittsburgh, in the Class of 2026.
Davis is entering his senior season at Imani Christian Academy in Pittsburgh and is ranked as the no. 9 player overall in Pennsylavnia by a consensus ranking compiled by On3. On3’s industry ranking for Davis comes out at four stars, although his rating from 247Sports only reaches three-star status. Regardless, he is one of the top-10 players in Pennsylvania, which is easy to see why he would have been on Penn State’s recruiting radar for 2026.
Davis committed to Penn State nearly two months after attending a junior day event at Penn State. He has also taken multiple unofficial visits as far back as November 2022. This commitment was a long time coming as Penn State first extended a scholarship offer in September 2022. Though largely classified as an athlete in his recruiting profiles, Davis is perhaps more known for his ability to play cornerback, which appears to be the track he will take with the Nittany Lions.
Other offers in hand for Davis came from West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan State, Cincinnati, and more. Davis also attended a junior day event at Kentucky last year.
Davis brings Penn State’s Class of 2026 up to nine total members. He is also the third defensive back to join the class along with previous commitments from Matt Sieg and Julian Peterson. Sieg is also one of the top-rated players in Pennsylvania, and Peterson is a top-10 player from New Jersey.
