Woodmont High School hired Malcolm Boyd as its next football coach Tuesday.
Boyd previously served on the coaching staff at Dorman as an associate head coach, run game coordinator, and offensive line coach. He replaces Ty Sutherland, who resigned this month after two seasons during which the Wildcats went 8-14.
Boyd played collegiate football at Liberty University, and helped lead the Eagles to four Big South Championships. He made All-Big South first team in 2011.
“We’re ecstatic to have Coach Boyd join Woodmont,” Principal Melissa Patterson said in a news release. “His proven success, focus on player development and drive to create a winning culture make him an ideal leader for our football program. We’re confident he’ll elevate Wildcat football to new levels.”
Woodmont finished in a three-way tie for sixth place in Region 1-AAAAA, going 2-5 in the eight-team conference. It’s pursuing its first winning season since going 6-5 in 2019.
