Texas A&M’s success in landing elite defensive line prospects over the past decade is well-known among recruiting experts, and it has continued under head coach Mike Elko and DL coaches Tony Jerod-Eddie and Sean Spencer. In the 2026 cycle, Elko’s latest D-line commitment, four-star Jermaine Kinsler, made up for losing four-star Trashawn Ruffin to North Carolina but left an open spot to fill.
This summer, 2026 four-star defensive lineman Jamarion Carlton, who primarily lines up on the outside as an edge rusher, is one of the ascending defensive prospects in the cycle, ranked as the No. 1 DL in the class. For anyone who hasn’t watched his 2024 junior tape, it’s easy to understand why he’s received so much coverage.
Elko and his staff will host Carlton for an official visit on June 12. Still, as of this week, 247Sports’ Jordan Scruggs revealed that the talented pass rusher will visit College Station unofficially on April 19, seven days after visiting rival Texas.
As I stated earlier, Carlton is as gifted as they come, possessing the size, strength, and versatility to play at edge, add weight, and shift inside to the 3-tech spot. This type of versatility is a growing trend among you defensive linemen.
During his 2024 junior season, Carlton recorded 57 tackles, five sacks, 11 tackles for loss, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.
