While the college basketball transfer portal is officially open and taking headlines for big names finding new homes, there is no rest in the college football world, either. There are players entering the transfer portal looking for a new home on the gridiron as well.
The Iowa Hawkeyes have seen their first spring departure via the transfer portal as defensive back John Nestor announced his decision via his account on X with a post this evening.
“Dear Iowa:
First and foremost, I want to thank God for giving the opportunity to play at the University of Iowa! I would like to thank Coach Ferentz, Coach Parker, Coach Wallace, Coach Woods, and Coach TP for believing in me and giving me an opportunity to play for the Hawkeyes. I will forever be grateful for what you guys have done for me and my family!
To Coach Rai, Coach Myers, Coach Helle, and Coach Reyes: Thank you guys for investing time and energy into me every day and being a vital part of my development! I will forever be in debt to you guys,” Nestor started.
“To Kammy, Jason, and Dylan: You guys are the best training staff in the country and I am forever grateful for you guys taking care of me!
Last but certainly not least… To the Dougboys: My dawgs! I love every single on of you guys and appreciate the impact you guys had on me. You boys gave me the best two years of my life! I will cherish the relationships I’ve had with every single one of you guys… BROTHERS FOR LIFE!
With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility. Time to roll the dice! Proverbs 16:33 – 7,” said Nestor.
John Nestor was a three-star recruit rated as the No. 66 safety and No. 14 overall recruit from Illinois in the class of 2023 per 247Sports. Nestor is a product of Marist High School in the Chicago suburbs.
