Baylor Bears hire Georgia Bulldogs staffer as assistant GM

Georgia will lose a key staffer for the 2025 college football season. The Baylor Bears are expected to hire Georgia player personnel coordinator Anthony Mauro as the assistant general manger, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

Mauro has worked in various roles since 2014. After he graduated from Iowa, he served as an undergraduate assistant for the Hawkeyes from 2014-18. After that, he was hired as an assistant linebackers coach with McNeese State, where he coached from 2019-21.

In 2022, Mauro worked for the Fresno State Bulldogs, where he helped bring in the top recruiting class in the Mountain West Conference and second best in all Group of Five schools.

From 2023-24, Mauro was hired to the director of player personnel at Louisiana Tech, where he helped recruit back-to-back top-three classes among Conference USA teams.

Mauro joined the Bulldogs in the spring of 2024, where he served as player personnel coordinator under Will Myers. but Georgia will have to fill that role.

Georgia has seen some changes to their scouting staff this offseason, but has maintained continuity on its coaching staff. The Bulldogs recently promoted James Ellis to the director of scouting for the program.

Georgia’s spring game, G-Day, is schedule for April 12.
