Former Indianapolis Colts’ head coach Frank Reich is joining former quarterback Andrew Luck and the Stanford football program.

Luck is currently the GM of the Stanford football program in the ever-evolving college football landscape. Reich will now be the team’s interim head coach for the 2025 season, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

“Sources: Stanford is hiring veteran NFL coach Frank Reich as the school’s interim football coach for 2025 season,” Thamel posted on X. “Both sides have agreed this will be only a one-season agreement. At that point, Stanford will launch a national search.”

Reich was the Colts’ head coach from 2018 through Week 9 of the 2022 season before being fired. He had a 40-33 record with the Colts, which included two playoff appearances and one playoff win.

Reich coached Luck for one season in 2018. That year, the Colts would go 10-6, which included making the playoffs and winning a game.

Reich was hired as the Carolina head coach for the 2023 season, but was fired after Week 12, following a 1-10 start.

As was reported by ESPN back in November, Luck’s role involves everything that touches the Stanford football program, from the football component to the business side–so he was very much a part of this decision to bring in Reich.
