Former Oregon DL Tomuhini Topui commits to USC Trojans

It was less than a week ago that former Oregon Ducks 4-star defensive lineman Tomuhini Topui announced that he was opening up his recruitment and decommitting from the Ducks, and now he has announced his new team.

It comes as no surprise to see Topui announce his commitment to the USC Trojans, a team that was recruiting the blue-chipper heavily down the stretch. Topui is rated by 247Sports as the No. 100 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 13 defensive lineman in the nation.

Standing at 6-foot-3, 320 pounds, Topui was projected to be a dominant player on the interior defensive line, coming up from Mater Dei to Eugene as part of the solid pipeline that Dan Lanning and his staff have established with the Monarchs. Oregon already has 5-star Mater Dei OT Kodi Greene committed in the 2026 class, and is after 5-star Mater Dei WR Chris Henry Jr. as well. However, Henry announced on Tuesday that he was shutting down his recruitment and canceling his official visit to Oregon this summer.

After the decommitment, Oregon fell to No. 4 in the 2026 recruiting rankings, which is as low as they have been in quite a while for this cycle. Following the loss of Topui and 4-star QB Jonas Williams, Oregon’s class took a hit, but they are still considered among the favorites for guys like 5-star QB Jared Curtis, 5-star OT Jackson Cantwell, and many other top-end players in this class.
