“You got guys who’ve even hit us back and they’re giving us the thumbs up and the praise and they want to be here.”
Coach Hart on how Coach Prime’s extension has helped recruiting ⤵️ Great question from @ScottProcter_ pic.twitter.com/ypLtuXzbzo

Deion Sanders signed a massive extension with Colorado last Friday, and according to Sanders’ right-hand man, Colorado’s linebacker coach Andre Hart, the new contract is already paying off.
After practice on Tuesday, Hart spoke with reporters with DNVR’s Scott Procter, asking Hart how having Sanders locked in as head will help the program’s recruiting efforts.
“It’s already been helping,” Hart said regarding the impact of Sanders’s extension. “You got guys who’ve even hit us back, and they’re giving us the thumbs up and the praise, and they want to be here.”
As we revealed Tuesday morning, Colorado’s 2026 recruiting class is bare. It is the only program in the Big 12 with no commitments so far. It is still early on the recruiting trail, but with Coach Prime staying in Boulder, recruits appear ready to commit to the Buffs.
Under Deion Sanders, Colorado has handled recruiting differently than most major recruiting powers. They often come in late and poach recruits away from previous commitments due to the cachet of their head coach. For example, in the last recruiting cycle, the Buffs landed the No. 37 ranked class according to 247Sports with just 14 freshman commits. Their overall rank, which includes the 17 transfers brought in, was 27th nationally.
The transfer portal remains a key component of Colorado’s current recruiting philosophy, but Coach Prime’s new contract already seems to be helping generate interest from 2026 recruits.
