BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football receiver Tyler Morris suffered a non-contact knee injury during spring camp that will require season-ending surgery, according to coach Curt Cignetti.
The Hoosiers landed the former Michigan receiver out of the transfer portal in January as it looked to replace a trio of talented players at the position — Myles Price, Ke’Shawn Williams and Miles Cross — who had exhausted their eligibility.
Morris played in 34 career games (14 starts) over three seasons in Ann Arbor, and had 23 catches for 248 yards with two touchdowns last season. He was a four-star prospect coming out of Bolingbrook, Illinois in the 2022 signing class.
According to 247 Sports composite rankings, he was the No. 133 overall prospect (No. 22 wide receiver).

With Morris out and fellow transfer Makai Jackson dealing with a hamstring injury, IU was down to six healthy scholarship receivers — a number that includes freshman early enrollees LeBron Bond and Myles Kendrick — at its two most recent practices.
“We are thin numbers-wise, that’s for sure, right now,” Cignetti said of the receiver position.
The injury situation has forced the coaching staff to get creative as it rotates three different personnel groups with tight end Sam West getting reps at slot receiver. The redshirt sophomore played in 13 games last season and had one catch for 37 yards.
“We’ll bring a number of walk-ons in over the summer into fall camp, so we got enough,” Cignetti said.
