Texas A&M football: How Kyle Field got its name

Kyle Field has been revamped several times and can now easily fit more than 100,000 people. Here is a history of Texas A&M’s football field.

COLLEGE STATION — With 25 players added in the 2025 recruiting class along with 13 transfer portal additions, Texas A&M football has seen an influx of talent this spring.

While most of the high schoolers coming to College Station were added with the future in mind, the Aggies portal class was built for the here and now.

“We knew we had to go into the transfer portal and get some guys,” defensive coordinator Jay Bateman told reporters Wednesday. “The best players available, ‘what are they?’ that’s what you do as a coach; you build your team around the best players available.”

Offensively, a lot of attention has been paid to wide receivers KC Concepcion, a former North Carolina State Wolfpack player, and Mario Craver, a former Mississippi State Bulldog. Both have impressed on the field since arriving on campus.

“Mario Craver from a speed component has already visibly been different for us,” offensive coordinator Collin Klein said. “KC (Concepcion) has been phenomenal. We’ve moved him all over the place, playing all over the field; making plays, one of the best competitors I’ve been around at the receiver position.”

Defensively, Bateman was quick to point out defensive linemen T.J. Searcy, Dayon Hayes and Sam M’Pemba as important pieces this season.

However, a name that kept being brought up Wednesday morning was former Washington Huskies cornerback Jordan Shaw.

“I think Jordan’s been tremendous … Jordan’s been awesome,” Bateman said.
