Nebraska football considered front-runners for in-state corner

Nebraska football received a prediction to land class of 2026 three-star corner Darion Jones. The prediction was made by On3’s Sean Callahan on Friday. According to the On3 recruiting rankings, Jones is the 50th-ranked cornerback in the 2026 class and the third-ranked player from Nebraska.

The Omaha North product currently has 13 offers, including some from Big Ten teams. Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin have also shown interest in addition to Nebraska.

Jones plays both sides of the football at the high school level. He had 43 catches for 776 yards and 11 touchdowns on offense in 2024. Defensively, he had 30 tackles, eight interceptions, and a sack in 12 games played, according to statistics from MaxPreps.com.

According to the On3 recruiting rankings, the 2026 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks 39th overall in the country and 11th in the Big Ten. The class is still in the formative stages as the program looks to continue building things out.

His older brother is current Huskers defensive back Donovan Jones, which may give them a leg up in this recruitment.
