BREAKING: Hardley Gilmore IV Dismissed From the Football Team Nebraska Huskers Matt Rhule

Nebraska Cornhuskers Head Coach Matt Rhule confirmed today that Hardley Gilmore IV has been dismissed from the football team. The 18-year-old sophomore transferred from Kentucky following the hire of his position coach, Daikiel Shorts, by the Huskers shortly after the Pinstripe Bowl.

Rhule said there was “nothing criminal or anything like that. Just won’t be with us anymore.” He added it didn’t involve anything which occurred outside the program.

The wide receiver from Belle Glade, Florida, was viewed as an athlete with a very high upside. As a freshman he had 6 receptions for 153 yards and expected to challenge for playing time as a deep threat. However, he experienced troubles in Kentucky, too, having been charged with misdemeanor assault in a December off-field incident.

The wide receiver room moves ahead with 16 players rostered, a number which is sure to drop significantly before the opening kickoff in Arrowhead Stadium.
