It’s still one week until the transfer portal opens up for 10 days during the spring window, but in preparation for potential departure, some players are starting to announce their intentions. And Michigan football isn’t immune to losing players.
On Wednesday, a player who has seen time on both sides of the ball is looking for a new opportunity, especially as he’s seemingly buried on the depth chart. Alessandro Lorenzetti originally hailed from Canada but played high school ball in New England before committing to the maize and blue. He got his start as an offensive tackle but eventually moved to the defensive side of the ball, playing defensive tackle.
According to On3 Sports, Lorenzetti is Michigan football’s first spring window transfer portal entry as he’ll look for an opportunity elsewhere.
Given Michigan’s depth at defensive tackle, there’s something of a logjam. Not only do the Wolverines return Rayshuan Benny, Ike Iwunnah, Enow Etta, and Trey Pierce, but they brought in Clemson transfer Tré Williams and Alabama transfer Damon Payne during the winter portal window.
A former three-star recruit, Lorenzetti was part of the 2022 class and has at least two years of eligibility remaining.
