Oregon football 5-star freshman WR Dakorien Moore labeled ‘a freak’

Few players in Oregon Ducks history have garnered as much hype and intrigue before their careers even started as freshman wide receiver Dakorien Moore. A 5-star recruit rated as the No. 1 WR in the 2025 class, Moore has built quite a following among the Oregon fanbase already, with many itching to see what he can do on the field.

It makes sense, too. Based on his high school tape, and the type of highlight-reel catches that he has put on film over the past couple of years, there are expectations that he can come to Eugene and be an instant difference-maker for the Ducks, much like we saw last year with Jeremiah Smith at Ohio State, and Ryan Williams at Alabama.

Hype and intrigue are one thing, though. Producing and living up to the expectations is something else entirely.

According to Moore’s teammates, that hasn’t been a problem thus far through six spring practices.

“Oh, he’s a freak, for sure,” quarterback Austin Novosad said on Tuesday. “I think he runs very explosive routes, goes up, high-points the ball. He’s gonna make lots of plays for us.”

While practice has been closed to media members for this spring season, while construction at the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex pushed the team to either the Moshofsky Center or inside Autzen Stadium, there have been few glimpses of Moore in an Oregon uniform.

The social media team gave fans a bit of eye candy last week, though, posting a short clip of Moore displaying some impressive athleticism and leaping to snag a ball away from safety Kingston Lopa.

More than the highlights on the field, though, it sounds like Moore is excelling in the meeting room, as well. Veteran WR Gary Bryant Jr. told media members on Tuesday that the 18-year-old ‘s off-field work just adds to the package.

“Very explosive. He’s a young guy that came in here and already got the playbook down,” Bryant said….
