Wisconsin is hosting class of 2026 quarterback Travis Burgess on an unofficial visit on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, according to 247Sports’ Evan Flood.
The Badgers are in contention with Auburn, Duke, North Carolina and NC State for the quarterback’s commitment. According to 247Sports, Burgess has official visits scheduled to Auburn on May 30, Wisconsin on June 6 and Duke on June 20. He also recently took an unofficial visit to Auburn late last month. The service has yet to log a prediction for the quarterback’s landing spot as of April 9. For what it’s worth, On3 gives Auburn a 98.6% chance to earn his commitment.
Burgess is currently listed as a three-star recruit, ranked as the No. 513 player in the class of 2026, the No. 28 quarterback and No. 57 recruit from the state of Georgia. The 6-foot-5 signal-caller’s offer sheet also includes Pittsburgh, Arizona State, Boston College, Utah and Virginia Tech.
Wisconsin does not have a quarterback committed to its class of 2026. Three-star Jarin Mock was pledged to the class last fall, though he decommitted after the program made a change at offensive coordinator, firing Phil Longo and eventually hiring Jeff Grimes.
The Badgers’ class of 2026 currently ranks No. 45 nationally with four players committed. The group has received a major boost over the last few days with commitments from defensive lineman/edge rusher Carmelow Reed and cornerback Carsen Eloms. It is sure to continue to rise in the national rankings as the summer months arrive and high-profile commitments follow.
Burgess’ recruitment is worth watching as Wisconsin looks to bolster its quarterback room. That unit in 2025 is headlined by starter Billy Edwards Jr., backup Danny O’Neil and four-star true freshman Carter Smith.
