To the victors go the spoils — or so they say. And in this case, the victors would be YOUR Ohio State football team that went on a memorable postseason run to take home the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff national championship.
That improbable journey included wins over No. 9 Tennessee, No. 1 Oregon, No. 5 Texas, and No. 7 Notre Dame on the way to a program-defining win in Atlanta to exorcise some demons of recent seasons and get a big ‘ole money off the back of head coach Ryan Day. Not only did the Buckeyes get some nice trophies, confetti, and hardware out of the deal, each player and staff member will be getting their national championship rings in the not-too-distant future.
In fact, according to a post on the Ohio State social media pages, it looks like those rings will be revealed at the Spring Game this Saturday inside the venerable Ohio Stadium. We haven’t seen anyone who’s been able to get their hands on the rings to date, so things are being kept incognito, but in case you didn’t already have a reason to check things out this Saturday on the banks of the Olentangy, now add another reason.
Here’s a look at head coach Ryan Day opening a box to get a peek at what we’ll all get to see when the rings are made public on Saturday.
“Wow, look at this. Well, this national championship ring, there’s multiple compartments to this thing, Day said in the video. “My goodness.” I can’t wait to see what that means and what this thing looks like.
