The 2026 recruiting class isn’t off to a great start for South Carolina.
After losing 4-star linebacker Rodney Colton and 4-star quarterback Landon Duckworth, another highly touted prospect has decommitted from the University of South Carolina. On Tuesday, 4-star cornerback Peyton Dyer announced his decommitment from the Gamecocks.
At 6-foot, 190 pounds, Dyer is rated a .9016 4-star, according to 247Sports Composite score, putting him slightly out of the top 300 at No. 328 in the nation. He ranked No. 27 in his class and the No. 39 player in Georgia. With at least 35 offers, the Duluth, Ga., native will have a bevy of other offers to choose from, including Georgia, Southern Cal, Auburn, Duke, Florida, and Florida State, to name a few.
South Carolina still has two 4-star recruits left in its 2026 recruiting class, with CB J’Zavien Currence and offensive tackle Zyon Guiles. In total, the Gamecocks have five commits left, ranking as the 28th class in the country, per 247Sports.
