With the additions that the transfer portal gives, there are departures that it takes away, and the Iowa Hawkeyes are on the receiving end of the latter.
Iowa added two-time national champion quarterback Mark Gronowski from South Dakota State via the transfer portal to bolster their quarterback room. With that addition, the Hawkeyes are seeing an incumbent quarterback with starting experience make his departure.
Per Pete Nakos of On3, Iowa Hawkeyes quarterback Brendan Sullivan is entering the transfer portal.
Brendan Sullivan joined Iowa ahead of the 2024-25 college football season after spending two years with the Northwestern Wildcats. While at Iowa, Sullivan was thrust into starting action last year.
In action for Iowa, Sullivan was 38-53 for 475 yards with three touchdowns to three interceptions. He added 150 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
Sullivan, a product of Davison High School in Davison, Missouri, was a three-star recruit rated as the No. 49 overall quarterback and No. 17 recruit from Missouri as part of the class of 2021, per 247Sports.
Some schools to watch for Sullivan include Indiana, Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami (OH), Ohio, Toledo, and Western Michigan, as they offered him out of high school.
