Oklahoma transfer QB Jackson Arnold injury status updated

Auburn football coach Hugh Freeze discusses QB transfer Jackson Arnold

Auburn football coach Hugh Freeze discusses Oklahoma QB transfer Jackson Arnold on Tuesday, March 25, at the Woltosz Football Performance Center in Auburn.

AUBURN — Auburn football’s A-Day was already a victim of minimization, going from a televised spring game to a non-televised practice.

But ahead of Saturday’s festivities, there was even less reason for fans to turn out as Oklahoma transfer quarterback Jackson Arnold was in street clothes and not participating in pre-practice warm-ups.

Arnold left Auburn’s Thursday practice early after pulling up with what appeared to be a left hamstring injury. He was able to walk off the field under his own power. Following Saturday’s events, coach Hugh Freeze provided an update.

“He’s feeling fine,” Freeze said of Arnold. “He just didn’t need to run today and risk — there’s no defect in the hamstring. You certainly don’t want to create one with one day left, going into an offseason that he needs to be ready to go. So, no need in risking that same thing with Eric Singleton, you know.”

Singleton, who Auburn added from Georgia Tech this offseason, did not participate Saturday. While Freeze indicated that was because of an injury, Singleton’s absence hadn’t previously been disclosed as a health-related matter.

Some other Tigers who dealt with injuries this spring and didn’t participate in A-Day included cornerback Champ Anthony, defensive Keldric Faulk and offensive linemen Xavier Chaplin and Connor Lew.
