LSU football QB back with team after recovering from car crash

LSU quarterback Colin Hurley rejoined LSU football after making a full recovery from injuries suffered during a serious car crash.

In January, Hurley was found unresponsive but breathing on LSU’s campus after his Dodge Charger hit a tree at South Quad Drive and Highland Road. Hurley has spent the last few months recovering in his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida.

Just before LSU football’s open practice on Saturday, the Tigers took to social media to show videos of Hurley interacting with his teammates upon returning.

“Colin Hurley has made a full recovery and has rejoined the LSU football program. His return is not only a testament to his physical health, determination and commitment – but also the exceptional care and expertise of medical and sports performance professionals in Florida, as well as the unwavering and closely coordinated support of LSU’s medical, training, coaching, and academic staff, under the leadership of Head Coach Brian Kelly,” The Hurley family said in a statement.

In February, Brian Kelly provided a positive update on Hurley, saying recovery was progressing and the family was optimistic about Hurley’s future.

Kelly visited Hurley in Jacksonville on multiple occasions.

Hurley signed with LSU in 2024 after reclassifying from the 2025 class. According to On3, he was a four-star recruit and the On3 Industry Rankings slotted Hurley as the No. 23 ranked QB in the class. Hurley did not see action in 2024 as he took a redshirt.
