Purdue football coach Barry Odom caps spring season

A prospect from Chicago announced he would be leaving the Boilermakers when the spring transfer portal opens.
WEST LAFAYETTE — Depth on the offensive line was a concern for Purdue football entering the spring.
Last week, Boilermakers offensive line coach Vance Vice said he could build a lot of depth with by cross training players. He’ll have to do it without a lineman who was receiving second-team reps throughout the spring.
Jimmy Liston announced he’ll enter the transfer portal.
Liston, who played second team center during Saturday’s spring showcase at Ross-Ade Stadium, has three years of eligibility remaining.
The Hinsdale, Illinois, native played in four games during the 2023 season and did not enter a game last season. He was a standout wrestler in addition to a versatile offensive lineman at Fenwick High School in Chicago’s west suburbs before going to IMG Academy in Florida.
He was a three-star prospect who signed with Purdue’s 2023 recruiting class.
A change to college football for the upcoming season requires teams to cap their rosters at 105 players. Programs have the option to provide scholarships to all 105 players next season, an increase from the 85 scholarship limit previously permitted.
