UCF experienced a significant roster overhaul following the departure of coach Gus Malzahn and the subsequent hiring of Scott Frost in December.
This transition brought a wave of players to the program, with 40 newcomers. Among these recruits, 29 were transfers, a strategic move aimed at addressing the gaps left by players who entered the portal.
As the spring window opens, there is uncertainty, with expectations that some players may choose to leave to further shape the roster landscape.
COMMITTED
OL CONNER MEADOWS
Vitals: 6-4, 300 pounds
Resume: Meadows was a three-year varsity starter at Peabody High School in Trenton, Tenn., before signing with the University of Tennessee. He spent two seasons with the Volunteers, taking part in 28 offensive snaps before transferring to Tennessee State last season.
Role: He was the Tigers’ starting right tackle last season, taking part in 835 offensive snaps in 13 games.
Outlook: With a possible move to left tackle for Paul Rubelt, the Knights could use an experienced tackle as a bookend. Meadows fits that description. He joins a tackles group that features Preston Cushman, Justin Royes and Laparka Langston.
LEAVING
QB DYLAN RIZK
Vitals: 6-2, 205 pounds
Resume: Rizk signed with the Knights’ 2023 recruiting class from Cardinal Gibbons (Fort Lauderdale), where he led the Chiefs to a 4A state title as a junior in 2021. He saw his first collegiate action late in the game against Villanova in 2023, but he redshirted for the remainder of the season.
After leading the Knights to a late touchdown against BYU last season, Rizk earned his first start against Arizona the following week. He completed 20 of 25 passes for 294 yards and threw 3 touchdowns in a 56-12 victory.
