Georgia football cornerback Ondre Evans undergoes ACL surgery

Georgia football cornerback Ondre Evans was spotted at Saturday’s G-Day game on the sidelines on crutches and did not participate in the end-of-spring scrimmage.

Evans provided details on his injury Wednesday when he posted on his Instagram story that he had “Successful acl surgery.”

That could keep the 6-foot, 195-pound redshirt freshman from Franklin, Tenn., out for the 2025 season.

Evans was a four-star prospect in the 2024 class. He enrolled early last year, but did not play in a game last season.

Evans would have provided depth at a position led by Daylen Everette, Daniel Harris, Ellis Robinson and Demello Jones. The group also includes freshmen Dominick Kelly and Jonate Gilbert.

“I just want to see fire and compete out of everybody,” coach Kirby Smart said when talking about the defensive backs early in spring practices. “So, it’s like I can’t label that position as the one, but there’s days that you have flashes. You know, competitive toughness is so hard to find nowadays because kids like to take the easy way out, and it’s not easy here.”
