The NCAA transfer portal is open again for college football teams around the nation.
The portal’s spring window is open from April 16-25, following its winter window — which ran from Dec. 9-28, bringing a flood of player movement across the country.
Illinois had 13 players enter the portal in December, with 11 players committing to the Illini from the portal. Here is the spring activity involving Illinois, including an updated list of the comings and goings.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound mauling back ran for 609 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Illini in 2024. He went on to win Citrus Bowl MVP win in a 21-17 victory over South Carolina. He was expected to enter the transfer portal on April 16.
No players from the spring portal window have committed to Illinois. We will update this list if they do.
Undergraduate college football players seeking immediate eligibility can put their names in the online database that allows them to be contacted by other schools about the possibility of transferring.
While most of the player movement is in the winter window, teams will be looking to upgrade determined by what they saw in spring camp. Players, meanwhile, might be looking for more playing time, a chance to jump to a higher level or seek more NIL compensation.
