WEST LAFAYETTE − Purdue football’s heralded 2022 signing class lost one of its two remaining mainstays.
Joe Strickland, a former four-star defensive end who helped lead Brebeuf to a runner-up finish in the 2017 Class 3A state tournament, entered the transfer portal.
Strickland and fellow defensive lineman Mo Omonode were the last two holdovers from Purdue’s 2022 signing class after offensive lineman Jimmy Liston also entered the transfer portal officially on Wednesday, the first day for the spring portal.
The 2022 class included three four-star recruits, including Nic Scourton, who played last season at Texas A&M and is projected to be a high pick in next week’s NFL draft, and quarterback Brady Allen, who transferred to Louisville to rejoin former Boilermaker coach Jeff Brohm.
Strickland appeared in two games over three seasons with the Boilermakers, making his debut against LSU in the 2023 Citrus Bowl. He played in last year’s season-opening win against Indiana State.
The two-time academic All-Big Ten honoree has three years of eligibility remaining.
