MADISON – A couple of Wisconsin receivers announced their departure from the program Tuesday evening.
Quincy Burroughs, a redshirt junior, and Mark Hamper, a redshirt sophomore, posted announcements of their departures on X. The spring period transfer portal begins Wednesday and closes April 25.
Burroughs has played his entire career for Luke Fickell, spending one season under the Badgers head coach at Cincinnati before transferring to Wisconsin for the 2023 season.
He played in 22 games for Wisconsin and caught five passes for 43 yards. This sping he was part of a large group of players in the hunt for playing time for the upcoming season.
With his announcement, he posted the caption “For I walk by Faith, not by Sight!
Hamper’s time with the Badgers lasted only a few months.
He committed to UW in December after a redshirt freshman season at Idaho in which he caught 49 passed for 961 yards and six touchdowns.
His average of 19.61 yards per catch was the fifth-best total in FCS and helped the Vandals go 10-4 and reach the second round of the playoffs. He was also a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award, which is given to the top receiver in FCS.
Hamper has been away from the team for most of spring practice.
“After spending time reflecting, praying and having meaningful conversations with those I trust most, I’ve come to realization that I need a fresh start,” he wrote on X, “one that will help me grow both as an athlete and as a person, while former stronger connections with a coaching staff hat shares my goals and values.”
