The Georgia Bulldogs will host to Miami Hurricanes defensive tackle Joshua Horton in the near future. He’s the fourth transfer prospect who has set up visit plans to Athens, joining North Carolina EDGE Beau Atkinson, Army EDGE Elo Modozie, and Alabama A&M defensive lineman Sedrick Smith.
Horton is a Peach State native. He played high school football at Langston Hughes and signed with the Hurricanes in the 2023 class. According to the 247 Sports, ranked as a four-star Horton was the nation’s No. 47 defensive lineman. He was the No. 32 player in Georgia.
Over the last two seasons, Horton has played in seven games, recording four total tackles and half a sack. Interestingly, he did receive an offer from Georgia during his initial recruitment, although it didn’t seem like the Bulldogs were strongly pursuing his commitment at that time.
According to Langston Hughes High School’s MaxPreps page, Joshua Horton had an outstanding senior year. Playing defensive tackle, he amassed 123 total tackles, including 10 tackles for loss. He also recorded four sacks and pressured the quarterback 13 times. In his junior season, he had 81 total stops and seven tackles for loss.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 290 pounds, Horton’s size and versatility could make him a good fit for the Bulldogs in a couple of different spots. He’s got the bulk to play inside at defensive tackle, but he could also potentially move to play defensive end.
