2027 4-star WR George Lamons Jr. commits to Texas A&M over Georgia

Texas A&M’s 2025 spring game also serves as another opportunity for coach Mike Elko and his staff to host as many 2026 and 2027 prospects in College Station this weekend. As we’ve seen in years past, the Aggies struck gold during the game, earning a significant commitment from one of the top skill position players in the 2027 cycle.

Just half an hour after the start of the spring game, it was revealed that 2027 four-star wide receiver/tight end George Lamons Jr. has committed to Texas A&M. This is the program’s first 2027 commit and a massive win for wide receiver coach Holmon Wiggins, who has been on quite the hot streak on the recruiting trail during his second offseason with the staff.

Lamons, who is currently visiting Texas A&M and attending the spring game, received his offer from Texas A&M back in early February. This led to his budding relationship with the Aggie coaching staff, which could act as potential momentum in the 2027 cycle.

On the field, Lamons is an elite prospect with immense potential. After putting up impressive numbers during his 2024 sophomore season, he could thrive at either tight end or wide receiver at the next level. At Brooks County HS in Quitman (GA), the Georgia native reeled 1,340 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns, including 84 rushing yards and three scores.

A top-30 ranked recruit, Lamons Jr. is currently positioned as the 29th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the sixth-ranked athlete, and the fifth-ranked prospect in Georgia.
