COLUMBIA — Freshman quarterback Cutter Woods stood out in the 2025 spring game for South Carolina football on April 18, putting up 120 yards in his first time under the lights in Williams-Brice Stadium.
Woods went 6-of-13 passing after replacing starter LaNorris Sellers. Both played for Team Black, who lost 10-7 to Team Garnet. Woods had a rushing touchdown for his team’s only score.
Woods was just one of the underclassmen who performed well for coach Shane Beamer.
Redshirt freshman Mason Love shined as both a punter and a kicker, as did freshman Peyton Argent and a bevy of wide receivers contributed with quality catches, including freshman Brian Rowe who caught five passes for 45 yards. Freshman Malik Clark caught a 16-yard touchdown from Luke Doty for Garnet’s only score.

Woods had a chance to lead Team Black to a game-winning scoring drive but Buddy Mack III picking him off to preserve the 10-7 lead.
Running back Matthew Fuller needed help but walked off the field just minutes into the final quarter. The running back had two carries for 13 yards at the time of the injury. It didn’t seem like a major injury from the press box perspective.
Doty connected with freshman Malik Clark for a touchdown to end the first half. Love’s extra point was good.
Woods ends a 75-yard scoring drive with a short run in for the score.

Myles Norwood jumped the route and intercepted Air Noland, stopping a series of poor passes from Noland in the second quarter.
