Ben Hall commits to North Carolina via transfer portal

The running back boards for several teams appear to be settling on Monday.

As for Michigan football, the Wolverines got a pledge and subsequent signing by former Princeton running back John Volker, adding to the room after UMass tailback CJ Hester committed on Saturday. But an outgoing Michigan player has also made his decision as to where he’ll play next.

It was something of a surprise a week ago when junior Benjamin Hall opted to hit the transfer portal, just days after a media availability. Hall was expected to be the Wolverines’ third back in the rotation, but instead, he decided to look at other options. The Georgia native is headed back to the South, with the announcement that he has committed to North Carolina.

Hall joins a resurgent Tar Heels team now led by legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick. North Carolina has some retooling to do of its own with Omarion Hampton departing for the NFL, being a likely first-round draft choice this week.

As for Michigan, the Wolverines now have three transfers in the running back room in Justice Haynes from Alabama, Hester, and Volker. Additionally, former walk-on Bryson Kuzdzal showed out in the spring game on Saturday, while Micah Ka’apana scored a rushing touchdown. Michigan also adds Jasper Parker from Archbishop Shaw in Louisiana this summer as a true freshman.
