Curt Cignetti wants players approaching spring practice with ‘great sense of urgency’

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti told reporters after the program’s annual spring game last week that he didn’t see any glaring holes on the roster.
Cignetti exited camp excited about the program’s overall talent level coming off the team’s historic trip to the College Football Playoff, but that doesn’t mean the Hoosiers won’t be making any roster moves this spring.
The first of those came Sunday when IU landed a commitment from Kent State defensive end Stephen Daley. The senior has played in 34 games (24 starts) and is a former teammate of CJ West, who was one of the more impactful spring transfers in the FBS last season.
The coaching staff still has room to work with after offensive lineman Austin Barrett, tight end Sam West along with defensive linemen Robby Harrison and Marcus Burris Jr. entered the portal during the last week of camp.

Michigan transfer Tyler Morris’ season-ending knee injury left the Hoosiers with seven healthy scholarship receivers for much of spring camp.
They were down to just five for the spring game, with Elijah Sarratt (knee) and Makai Jackson (hamstring) sitting out for precautionary reasons. Those low numbers forced IU to fill out the two-deep for the scrimmage with walk-ons.
