Texas A&M’s 2025 spring season has ended, and over the next four months, head coach Mike Elko and his staff are focused on building the 2026 recruiting class while landing valuable players from the transfer portal to add to the 2025 roster. Right now, the program’s needs start with adding a defensive tackle, while adding another safety, cornerback, or wide receiver with height is also in the mix.
However, beefing up the defensive line is likely the No. 1 priority. While the Texas Longhorns, who were in dire need of adding defensive linemen, have landed several productive DTs from the portal, the Aggies are reportedly in contention for a Mountain West defensive lineman with the versatility and experience to add immediate value to A&M’s 2025 defense.
On Monday, Boise State defensive lineman Braxton Fely released his top six transfer destinations, as Cal, Miami, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, TCU, and Texas A&M are the final programs he will consider. While competing with equally desperate programs in need of depth, nothing is guaranteed, so getting him to College Station sooner rather than later is key.
Standing at 6’1″ and nearly 300 pounds, Fely is coming off his most productive season, accounting for 24 tackles and 5.5 sacks. If he were to choose to transfer to Texas A&M, he would become a valuable rotational member of an already highly athletic defensive tackle room that just needs more bodies.
