Ohio State football visits White House to celebrate championship
Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeye’s football team was honored at the White House for their 2024 national championship victory.
Coming off the program’s first national championship in a decade, Ohio State football will enter the 2025 season as a bit of a mystery between all the personnel and coaching changes it has endured over the past three months.
With the Buckeyes’ highly anticipated opener against Texas still four months away, one of the more decorated coaches in Ohio State history has an idea of how his former program might fare.
During a segment on his podcast, “The Triple Option,” former Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer picked Ohio State to go 10-2 in 2025, which would match its regular-season mark from 2024.
“They recruited at a whole different level than anyone else in college football in the last 15 or 20 years,” Meyer said while offering an explanation for his prediction. “I thought we always recruited good. Man, I see these rosters, my gosh, what they’ve done. They had a good spring game. They love the quarterback (Julian) Sayin, the Alabama transfer. But you have two new coordinators. Matt Patricia, that’s going to be the biggest change because I think Brian Hartline’s just going to keep going along with the Chip Kelly, Ohio State and Ryan Day offense.”
Meyer’s co-host, former Alabama and NFL running back Mark Ingram, agreed, also projecting the Buckeyes to go 10-2.
Since defeating Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff championship in January, Ohio State has undergone significant turnover.
