Where is Georgia football in the SEC transfer portal rankings?

The Georgia Bulldogs made a trio of major moves in the spring transfer portal window. Georgia added commitments from Illinois running back Josh McCray, Miami defensive lineman Josh Horton and Army edge rusher Elo Modozie.

Georgia’s trio of additions helped the Bulldogs rise significantly in the incoming transfer portal class rankings. The Bulldogs have been more aggressive than usual during the spring transfer portal window, but still have the fourth-fewest incoming transfers of any SEC football program. Typically, Georgia and head coach Kirby Smart prefer to rely on recruiting and developing elite high school talent. 

However, Georgia has lost 35 combined players to both the transfer portal and the 2025 NFL draft, so the Bulldogs have had to plunge into the transfer portal to acquire more experienced talent. Georgia may not be done yet in the portal. UGA still has several notable transfer targets.

Georgia’s incoming transfer class still only ranks No. 12 in the SEC and No. 22 in the country. The is not only the nation’s top conference in traditional recruiting, but it is also the best at transfer portal recruiting. The SEC has six of the top 10 incoming transfer portal classes, including the two top of the top classes in the country (LSU and Ole Miss are ranked behind Texas Tech). The SEC also has 12 of the nation’s top 25 recruiting classes.

The SEC’s biggest loser thus far has to be the Tennessee Volunteers, who lost starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava to the transfer portal. The Volunteers have the SEC’s worst incoming transfer class, but that’s bound to change. Tennessee will find another transfer quarterback this spring.
