After working with a small option of tight ends throughout spring practice, Alabama football has made a key addition to the room through the NCAA transfer portal.
Jack Sammarco, a Cincinnati tight end who spent his freshman season at West Virginia, will transfer to Alabama, Evan Dreyer, Sammarco’s coach at Anderson High School told The Tuscaloosa News.
“Jack is an extremely great kid and player. He will be attending the University of Alabama,” Dreyer said. “As his high school coach, I am extremely proud of what he has done and what he is going to accomplish in the SEC. He’s excited to go to school ⅔ where his sister attends — as well as develop into a high-profile player at one of the best universities in the nation.”
Sammarco, who stands at 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds, recorded one catch for 4 yards as a true freshman with the Mountaineers.
Sammarco appeared in each of West Virginia’s games in 2024, playing 203 snaps across offense and special teams, per Pro Football Focus. Eighty of his 95 snaps on offense were as an in-line tight end.
