Iowa football 2026 OL recruiting continues surge after latest commit

The Iowa Hawkeyes are on a roll up front in the 2026 class.

Iowa added its ninth pledge to the 2026 class on Monday with the addition of Gene Riordan. Out of Hinsdale Central in Illinois, Riordan is ranked as one of the top interior offensive linemen nationally by On3. According to On3, Riordan is the nation’s No. 67 player overall, the No. 5 interior offensive lineman and the top player from the state of Illinois.

A 6-foot-5, 275 pound offensive lineman, Riordan committed to Iowa over offers from schools such as Auburn, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Minnesota, NC State, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Penn State, Virginia and West Virginia.

ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports each rate Riordan as a three-star commit.

With Riordan joining the class, Iowa’s work up front could very well be finished in the 2026 cycle. That’s now five offensive linemen already committed to the Hawkeyes.

Riordan joins a group of offensive line commits that also features in-state products Carson Nielsen and Colin Whitters, Owen Linder from Minnesota and Hudson Parliament from South Dakota.

Nielsen is regarded as a four-star offensive tackle, Linder is a four-star interior offensive lineman per On3, Parliament is a four-star interior offensive lineman per both On3 and Rivals and Whitters is a consensus three-star interior offensive lineman.

Iowa offensive line coach George Barnett has been busy putting together a standout class of linemen in 2026. This group comes on the heels of Iowa’s 2025 signing class which featured offensive line signee Lucas Allgeyer.

In addition to its offensive line pledges, Iowa also holds commitments in the 2026 class from quarterback Cash Herrera, wide receivers Brody Schaffer and Diondre Smith and defensive back Marcello Vitti.
