A 2026 Tennessee football commitment reopened his recruitment. Four-star defensive lineman Tyson Bacon decommitted from the Vols on Wednesday.
“First off, I want to thank coach (Josh) Heupel, coach Chop (Levorn Harbin), coach (Rodney) Garner, coach (Tim) Banks, coach (Robert) Ayers, and the University of Tennessee for taking my commitment,” Bacon announced. “After careful consideration, I want to open back up my recruiting. I want to make sure I’m making the best decision for my future.”
The 6-foot-3 263-pound prospect is from Hoover High School in Hoover, Alabama. 247Sports ranks Bacon as the No. 34 defensive lineman and the No. 14 player in Alabama.
Tennessee offered Bacon a scholarship on April 7, 2024. He committed to the Vols on Oct. 21, 2024, two days after an unofficial visit.
Following Bacon’s decommitment, Tennessee has seven commitments for its 2026 recruiting class: Quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver Tyreek King, tight end Carson Sneed, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda, wide receiver Tyran Evans, linebacker Braylon Outlaw and defensive lineman C.J. Edwards.
