Four-star defensive lineman Tyson Bacon decommitted from Tennessee football after being pledged to the Vols’ 2026 recruiting class since October.
Bacon’s stock has risen the past few months. Since committing to Tennessee, he received scholarship offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Alabama and other Power Four programs, according to 247Sports.
Now Bacon is re-considering his options.
“First off I want to thank Coach (Josh) Heupel, Coach Chop (Levorn Harbin), Coach (Rodney) Garner, Coach (Tim) Banks, Coach (Robert) Ayers and the University Of Tennessee for taking my commitment,” Bacon posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on April 23. “After careful consideration I want to open back up my recruiting. I want to make sure Iām making the best decision for my future.”
Bacon is a top-300 player in the 2026 class and ranked No. 34 among defensive linemen, according to 247Sports Composite. He is 6-foot-3, 263-pounder from Hoover, Alabama.
Bacon’s decommitment leaves Tennessee with only seven commitments in its 2026 class, led by five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon.
Wide receiver Tyreek King, tight end Carson Sneed and offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda are also committed as four-star recruits. Wide receiver Tyran Evans, linebacker Braylon Outlaw and edge rusher C.J. Edwards are three-star recruits.
