Oklahoma State football lands DII All-American Terrill Davis from UCO

STILLWATER — Choctaw coach Jake Corbin lost count of how many times he tried to convince Terrill Davis to join the football team.

A talented high school basketball player, Davis kept his focus on the court, until Corbin finally broke through in 2020.

As a senior at Choctaw, Davis finally gave football a shot, and to say he took to it quickly would be an understatement.

He played a key role in getting the Yellowjackets to the Class 6A-II state title game that year. Then got an NCAA Division II opportunity at Central Oklahoma, where he worked his way into an All-American last fall.

And on Thursday morning, Davis’ career journey took another major step, when he announced his commitment to Oklahoma State for his final season of college football.

“Committed,” he wrote in the simple post on his X account. “Let’s do it.”

And it all tracks back to the day he finally bought into the idea Corbin had been pitching for years.

“We tried to get him out for football multiple times,” Corbin told The Oklahoman. “He was a really good high school basketball player and it wasn’t hard to see his athleticism on the court and assume it could transition to football.

“He’s a super-intelligent kid, so he picked up the offense and the game really quickly, and instantly became a star.”

Corbin has seen enough Division I…
