Former Tiger back in the transfer portal after one season at Colorado

A one-time Clemson offensive lineman is back on the move.

Zechariah Owens has entered the NCAA transfer portal for the second time in as many years. The former four-star prospect originally signed with Clemson in the 2023 class, spending one season with the Tigers before transferring to Colorado. Now, after just a year in Boulder, he’s looking for his third college stop.

Owens redshirted during his lone year at Clemson, appearing in just two games in 2023 while logging limited snaps. Despite an early decommitment during his recruitment, he eventually rejoined the Tigers’ class and arrived in Death Valley as one of the more highly rated offensive tackles in the country.

At Colorado, Owens played in 10 games this past season, primarily on special teams. He saw the field goal and PAT units 51 times but was used sparingly on offense, totaling only 11 snaps.

The 6-foot-6, 345-pound lineman was ranked inside the Top 200 overall by most recruiting services coming out of high school. He chose Clemson over offers from Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida State.

Now back in the portal, Owens will be searching for a fresh start once again — and while he didn’t see much action in his time at Clemson, he remains a big name with untapped upside.
