Ex-Jackson State football star Travis Hunter is one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Hunter, the two-way star, was chosen at pick No. 2 by the Jacksonville Jaguars on April 24. The Jaguars traded up with the Cleveland Browns shortly before making the selection.
Hunter was the No. 1 recruit in the 2022 recruiting class and played one season at Jackson State with coach Deion Sanders. When Sanders left for Colorado, Hunter followed him and had two more fantastic seasons. Hunter won the Heisman Trophy last season.

Hunter dazzled college football with his skillset as both a wide receiver and cornerback. He has generational athleticism and likely could’ve been the No. 1 pick in other drafts.
Hunter brings elite playmaking. He’s also used to being in the spotlight. Hunter is the highest-ranked recruit of all-time to sign with an FCS program. He was an All-American in his two seasons at Colorado. In addition to winning the Heisman Trophy last season, Hunter won the Chuck Bednarik Award for the nation’s top defender, the Biletnikoff Award for the nation’s top receiver and the Paul Hornung Award for the nation’s most versatile player.
The biggest question for Hunter will be his durability and conditioning to play both offense and defense. It’s rarely been done in the NFL.

Hunter’s athleticism is his biggest strength, which allows him to play wide receiver and cornerback. Scouts also note his elite ball skills. Hunter only allowed two catches of over 20 yards in 2024.
