UNC adds a pair of linemen on April 24.
Four months ahead of the 2025 college football season, one thing is crystal-clear: guys want to play for Bill Belichick.
UNC’s new head football coach’s past speaks for itself: eight Super Bowl Titles, 17 AFC East Championships and developing Tom Brady into the greatest football player of our generation. Belichick struggled post-Brady though and, after a 4-13 season in 2023, he agreed to part ways with the New England Patriots.
Nine players have already committed to North Carolina through the transfer portal, highlighted by expected 2025 starting quarterback Gio Lopez.
The Tar Heels need to replace loads of production on both their offensive and defensive lines, but their latest portal additions should help with that.
On Tuesday, April 24, UNC landed commitments from Penn State defensive lineman Joseph Mupoyi and UAB offensive lineman Jordan Hall.
Mupoyi redshirted his 2023 season, then played in just two games last year. Mupoyi recorded a tackle in the College Football Playoff.
Hall will enter his redshirt sophomore season in Year One at North Carolina. Hall played in all 12 of UAB’s games last year, starting once at left tackle.
Mupoyi is the second Penn State lineman to land in Chapel Hill, following Vilbert Smith, who is expected to be a 2025 starter for the Tar Heels. UNC has more experience returning on its offensive line, but with Hall’s 6’8″, 310-pound frame, it’s difficult to imagine Hall not being a Day One starter.
Regardless of whether North Carolina adds anyone else in the transfer portal, it’s encouraging to see guys want to play for Belichick in Year One at the college level.
