The top running back is off the board as the Las Vegas Raiders selected Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

Jeanty will now be the centerpiece of a Raiders backfield.

Here are three things to know about one of the premier running back prospects in recent memory:

Ashton Jeanty: Near record-setting season

In 2024, Jeanty delivered one of the best running back seasons of all-time, rushing for the second most yards in a season since 1956.

The Boise State tailback finished with 2,601 rushing yards, the most since Melvin Gordon totaled 2,587 rushing yards in 2014 for Wisconsin.

Needing 132 yards in the Fiesta Bowl against Penn State to break Barry Sanders’ record of 2,628 rushing yards, Jeanty fell 27 yards short as he rushed for a season-low 104 yards against the Nittany Lions in the College Football Playoff.

Ashton Jeanty: Unforgettable first game

Jeanty had the best performance of his career in the opening game of his junior campaign, where he set career-highs in rushing yards (259) and rushing touchdowns (six) in the Broncos’ 56-45 win over Georgia Southern last August.

The 21-year-old bruiser totaled an astounding six games with 200+ rushing yards in 2024 en route to being named the first unanimous All-American in the history of Boise State football.

Ashton Jeanty: Maxwell Award winner
