Since UNC hired Belichick to be its next head football coach in December 2024, players are making it known they want to suit up for the 8-time Super Bowl Champion. North Carolina already has 29 incoming transfers in the portal, filling plenty of roster holes from offseason departures, on both sides of the football.
The Tar Heels’ latest transfer comes from an SEC program that, despite winning three national championships, has not play to that level in the past two decades.
On Saturday, April 26, UNC landed a commitment from Florida Gators defensive lineman D’Antre Robinson. Hailing from Orlando, Fla., Robinson will have three seasons of eligibility left upon stepping foot in Chapel Hill.
Robinson, a mammoth of a defensive tackle at 6’3″ and 308 lbs., recorded 17 tackles, three tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks for Florida in 2024. Robinson’s best games arguably came in the Gators’ Gasparilla Bowl win over Tulane, preceded by a November 9 loss at Texas, with three solo tackles in each.
“Think he’s a tough kid, great kid to have around the program,” Florida defensive line coach Gerald Chatman said of Robinson in March, according to InsideCarolina. “He cares about his teammates. He has a skill set — he’s twitched up. So I think he’s one of those guys who’s gonna have a big role this year. So going into year two, it’s huge those guys are getting the reps and getting the bulk of the load right now.”
