The 2025 NFL draft included several new records, including the Texas Longhorns having the most players drafted in program history (12). Texas A&M saw its first first-round selection since 2022 after edge Shemar Stewart was selected 17th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals. Still, the SEC is considered the most dominant football conference nationally, and proved that fact over the past three days with 79 total players drafted.
All 16 SEC teams saw at least one player selected, while, in regular fashion, the Georgia Bulldogs led the way with 13 players. In contrast, even Vanderbilt saw veteran long snapper Julian Ashby hear his name called in the seventh round by the New England Patriots. However, the Oklahoma Sooners, who saw just two players drafted in the mid to late rounds, have been heavily criticised, but every team has a down year.
One of the primary reasons Texas A&M only saw three players drafted was due to offensive linemen Trey Zuhn III, Ar’maj Reed-Adams, and running back Le’Veon Moss returning for the 2025 season, as all three were considered second to third-round selections during the early part of the draft process.
Here are the draft numbers for all 16 SEC programs after the 2025 NFL draft.
Georgia – 13Texas – 12Ole Miss – 8Alabama – 7LSU – 7Florida – 7South Carolina – 5Tennessee – 4Texas A&M – 3Auburn – 3Missouri – 3Kentucky – 2Oklahoma – 2Arkansas – 2Vanderbilt – 1
While the bottom-tier schools, outside of Oklahoma, likely won’t see a vast increase in players drafted next season, expect the top ten schools, including Texas A&M, to see a bump going into the 2026 season, especially if the Aggies improve from their 8-5 finish last season.
