Wisconsin football extended an offer to Hawaii transfer wide receiver Dekel Crowdus on Saturday.
The offer follows two of the program’s top transfer receiver targets committing elsewhere, including former Michigan and West Georgia wideout Karmello English, who visited Madison, Wisconsin, early last week.
Crowdus is in the portal after one year at Hawaii. He originally began his career at Kentucky, where he signed as a four-star recruit, ranked specifically as the No. 307 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 49 wide receiver. After redshirting as a true freshman, the 5-foot-10 receiver appeared in 10 games in 2022, catching four passes for 82 yards. He held a similar role as a redshirt sophomore in 2023, appearing in 10 games, primarily on special teams.
Crowdus then excelled in his one season at Hawaii. He finished the campaign with 16 catches, 402 receiving yards, 25.1 yards-per-reception and four touchdowns.
The Lexington, Kentucky, native is now back in the portal with a final year of eligibility remaining. 247Sports currently lists him as a three-star transfer prospect, ranked as the No. 822 overall player in the portal and No. 150 wide receiver.
According to his X account, Crowdus has also received offers from Coastal Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas State and Charlotte. He was a late entry into the portal (April 25) and appears to be in the early stages of his transfer recruitment.
Wisconsin is still looking to add depth at wide receiver after Mark Hamper and Quincy Burroughs left during the spring transfer window. Crowdus would bring an intriguing big-play ability to Jeff Grimes’ offense — the receiver’s career yards-per-catch average is 24.2. With Oklahoma involved, we’ll see if the Badgers can pull off another critical recruiting win.
