Offensive lineman George Haseotes names Vanderbilt over FSU, others

Spring football began for high schools on Monday morning, and one of Southwest Florida’s premier talents used the start of practices to make his college decision.

Community School of Naples’ George Haseotes committed to Vanderbilt over the weekend, the USA Today Florida Network confirmed on Monday morning. The interior offensive lineman is ranked No. 95 in the USA Today Florida Network Top 100.

Haseotes (6-foot-3, 295 pounds) said he has around 30 offers, and named the Commodores over Florida State, Notre Dame, Florida among others.

“I think it was a combination of – I think that’s the best staff in the country, along with SEC football, plus one of the best educations you can get in the nation,” he said. “I think it’s a perfect fit for me, I think I fit that program, and I was the No. 1 interior offensive lineman on their board for a reason. I’m just going to go there and prove that I’m the best center in the country.”

Haseotes, a member of the Naples Daily News All-Area First team and 2023 and 2024 The Big 15 list of top Southwest Florida recruits, played both ways for the Seahawks last year. He helped CSN average 380 yards of offense per game while tallying 2.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss.

Haseotes had just visited Florida State in late March and locked in an official visit for early June. While the relationship with Seminole offensive line coach Herb Hand is strong, it was the Commodores’ culture that landed them the coveted center.

“They have a tremendous faith and camaraderie amongst the staff,” he said. “And being a man of faith, that’s very important to me. They’re filled with love and compassion. They know when to be stiff and hard with their players, and they know when to lift them up, and I think gravitates to my style…
