Former LSU four-star DB reveals transferring to Texas school

Former LSU safety Ryan Yaites signed with TCU, according to CBSSports and 247Sports. It will be his third school after spending last season with Cal.

In 2024 with the Bears, Yaites played in six games with one start, making nine tackles and half a tackle for loss. His transfer comes following the conclusion of spring practices and a dip in production as a sophomore.

Yaites committed to the Tigers as a four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class out of Denton, TX. He ranked as the No. 52 recruit in the state and No. 20 at his position. As an early enrollee, he came to campus in Spring 2023 to start training with head coach Brian Kelly’s team.

As a true freshman, Yaites appeared in all 13 games as a backup safety and on special teams. He played 124 defensive snaps, totaling 16 tackles, one pass breakup and one pass deflection. Against Missouri and Florida, he made three tackles apiece as well as in the ReliaQuest Bowl against Wisconsin.
