Michigan State football has officially added one of its top transfer portal additions.
On3 college football insider Pete Nakos reported on Monday that Texas Tech edge rusher Isaac Smith has officially signed with Michigan State. Smith had committed to Michigan State last week, and he’s now reportedly officially heading to East Lansing, Mich. to fill a huge hole on the Spartans’ roster.
In 2022, Smith accumulated 14 tackles, three tackles for loss and a sack. In 2023, an injury took Smith out of action for the whole season. Coming back in 2024, Smith recorded 31 tackles, four tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
Smith is rated as a three-star transfer prospect in On3’s rankings. He holds a rating of 83.82 and is ranked as the No. 183 edge rusher in the On3 2025 transfer portal rankings.
Smith has two years of eligibility remaining. He is expected to play an instant role on the Spartans defense — which struggled last year to put pressure on the quarterback and record sacks.
